Rasha has over 18 years of experience in capital markets. She held successive executive and leadership positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (previously Merrill Lynch & Co.) where she was Managing Director and Head of Cross Asset Solutions & Strategies (CASS) in Canada.
Rasha has a global asset focus and extensive experience in building capital markets businesses, including setting up new platforms, joint ventures and executing large structured finance transactions. During her tenure, she built the largest non-bank residential mortgage funding business and launched a leading asset-based financing platform, two of the most lucrative businesses for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Canada. A leader in her structured finance field, Rasha executed large financings across a variety of sectors including: financial services, retail, automotive, real estate and REITs. She launched several inaugural financing products that became a blueprint in the market, and she positioned and maintained Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s leading platform in the Canadian market.
As head of Cross Asset Solutions and Strategies, she advised global sovereign wealth funds, Canadian pension funds, hedge funds and large institutional clients. In this capacity, she was responsible for developing, structuring and executing capital markets solutions as well as derivative and structured strategies to optimize their overall cross-asset investment portfolios and maximize risk/returns. In addition to her business responsibilities, she was a member of the Asset/Liability Committee and the Management Committees for Debt Capital Markets and Equity Capital Markets.
Rasha regularly represented Bank of America Merrill Lynch with regulatory bodies and was a sought-after speaker and key opinion leader at industry conferences. Rasha was President and Chair of the Mortgage- Backed Securities Issuers Association (MBSIA) for 2 consecutive terms, a Director on the Board of Russell Investments in Canada for 3 years and part of its Audit Committee 2009 – 2011. Rasha joined Merrill Lynch in 2002 in Global Markets and prior to her time at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Rasha was an Executive Director in Structured Finance at CIBC World Markets and earlier at TD securities.
Rasha holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Montreal in Financial Economics and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from McGill University.
Laura is responsible for leading and ensuring the seamless day-to-day operations of Brim, including internal and external consulting on activities and processes that could impact the company. Under her leadership, the operations team looks at all aspects of business operations to ensure efficiency and integrity exist in all activities, both financial and non-financial. Laura also leads relationship and project management with TSYS, Brim’s primary vendor, in addition to several other third-party vendors that support Brim.
Laura has over 30 years of experience in the credit card industry, working with Mastercard, Visa and private label issuers. Her experience offers the insight and perspective of both the issuer as well as the payment processor. Laura has worked for multiple credit card issuers including Canadian Tire, RBC and many other issuers of association and private label products. Her prior experience includes 10+ years as a Director at TSYS, advising clients on all aspects of TSYS implementation. Laura has launched numerous new credit card portfolios in North America and the UK and has deep expertise in the Canadian Market.
Faez oversees the design, development, implementation and management of Brim’s technical infrastructure and online presence. He has 20 years of experience in in-depth analysis, complex coding, and advanced problem solving, and has a long history of managing and securing servers administration and security. In his role, Faez leads a team of highly skilled developers, engineers, and network administrators to deliver Brim’s vision of a fast, secure, flexible and powerful user experience.
Faez and his team have led the development of Brim’s cutting-edge backend, comprehensive API, and its state-of-the-art flexible and responsive website, and native mobile applications. Faez also oversees Brim webhosting, networking and connectivity, and manages all code, databases, VPNs, and firewalls.
Thomas is responsible for the design, implementation and development of Brim’s credit card business and overall platform infrastructure. As one of Brim’s first employees, Thomas has brought the Brim vision to life by leading the complete development of digital platforms and product stacks to ensure an excellent user experience. Working closely with all divisions of the business, Thomas oversees integration between development, operations, design, marketing, and partnerships to ensure seamless product development, continued product innovation and digital improvement. Prior to joining Brim, Thomas drove business development at Colliers International in Hong Kong.
Thomas earned his Master of Arts with Distinction in International Business from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.
Chris is responsible for all aspects of accounting and reporting for the credit card receivable portfolio and brings over 20 years of experience as a financial professional with extensive experience in credit card portfolio reporting, risk analysis, treasury management, financial management, and accounting.
As VP - Structuring & Surveillance at Desjardins Securities, Chris advised senior management and was responsible for overall management and portfolio reporting. During his career, Chris has held senior leadership positions at several leading financial institutions. As Assistant Treasurer at CFF Bank, Chris dealt with the management of interest rate risk, liquidity and funding for the bank. Chris built a finance team responsible for all aspects of strategic financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, as well as regulatory reporting. In addition, Chris was responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with IFRS.
Chris earned his BSc in Computer Science from Western University and his MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Chris a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
With over 15-years of financial services experience at Walmart Bank and Bank of Montreal, Paul has led analytical teams to develop and implement various types of predictive models, segmentation strategies, contact management strategies, multi-channel offer strategies, data mining analyses, and has performed research and development regarding new innovative analytic techniques to drive top line and bottom-line growth throughout his career. Paul also has extensive expertise in Cognos, SAS, SQL, Essbase, Tableau, R, and Hyperion, and more.
Paul earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance at the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA).
Scott is responsible for financial analysis, reporting, analytics and the development of Brim’s overall business strategy alongside Brim’s senior management to ensure continued market growth. Scott also works closely with Brim’s product team and is responsible for mobile app development efforts.
Prior to joining Brim, Scott began his career in finance at IG Private Wealth Management, where he joined as an associate in 2013. Scott would go on to lead the portfolio design, investment research, and analysis efforts for a nationally-recognized advisory team.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in 2013, where he studied Economics and International Development Studies. Scott is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and is a member of CFA Society Toronto.
Stacy is responsible for building strategic corporate partners, merchant partners, and the development of Brim Marketplace. Stacy has deep experience in Canadian tech with expertise in business development, sales strategy, and marketing.
Prior to joining Brim, Stacy led growth at Peerscale, a preeminent peer organization for tech CEOs, supported the strategy, launch & expansion of the DMZ and Ryerson’s entrepreneurial network, and launched and ran digital training company BrainStation’s flagship campus in Toronto.
Stacy earned her Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson University with specialization in marketing, communications & digital media. Stacy is a member of the SickKids Tech & Innovation Advisory Council & advisor to #movethedial, a global movement advancing the participation of women in tech.
Chandrakant works to deliver a complete cards and Operations solution. With experience in both Business and IT, Chandrakant provides in house and external, vendor facing consulting services to ensure top of class efficiency, integrity and quality in all deliverables. He manages projects & production issues to deliver continuity in running Brim’s BAU shop as well as undertaking new initiatives to deliver enhanced features and products by working closely with TSYS and several other third-party vendors that support Brim.
Chandrakant brings over a decade of experience in the cards space, spread across Issuing and Acquiring encapsulating the E2E cards life-cycle starting from Cardholder application, onboarding to dispute resolution for both Visa and Mastercard.
Prior to joining Brim, Chandrakant provided consulting services to Royal Bank of Canada through Capgemini in the QA/QE space, implementing his insights to deliver high quality programs and projects in converting card processing system to TS2 and launching numerous Visa and Mastercard branded cards in the Caribbean and Canada.
Chandrakant earned his Bachelor of Engineering from VTU, India with a specialization in Information Science.
Julia oversees and executes the design and development of an engaging digital customer experience across Brim’s platform channels, including the public facing website, cardmember portal, and native mobile apps. As an integral member of the Brim team, Julia manages the design team, overlooking their work and providing feedback and direction to ensure that all projects are aligned with the brand standards and following best UX/UI practices.
With over 10 years of experience in digital design and visual communications, Julia has helped various businesses communicate with their customers by translating ideas into compelling visual stories that are focused on users’ needs. She led and collaborated on several projects including websites, branding and design direction.
Julia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from SENAC Sao Paulo and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Interactive Media Management (UX Design) from Centennial College, Toronto.
As part of the design team, David is responsible for creating meaningful and engaging user experiences across all of Brim’s digital platforms. David is committed to understanding the needs, goals and behaviours of Brim’s cardmembers and plays an active role in all stages of the design process. This includes user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, UX copywriting & visual design.
With a background in performing arts, David understands the importance of storytelling and creating memorable and engaging experiences. He also understands the importance of good coffee, and can often be found in the kitchen brewing up a mean cup!
David holds a Master of Arts in Music Theatre Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and is a graduate of the UX & Product Design Immersive Program at Bitmaker General Assembly.
As part of the design team, Kyung is responsible for designing user interactions and QA testing across all of Brim’s digital products, including the public facing website, cardmember portal, and iOS & Android mobile apps. She works closely with the development team and plays an active role in maintaining consistent user journeys, improving functionality and creating seamless UX across all platforms.
Prior to joining Brim, Kyung worked in digital agencies creating and testing several custom responsive websites for different businesses.
Kyung holds an Advanced Diploma in Interaction Design and Development from George Brown College, Toronto.
As part of the design team, Nicole is responsible for designing and helping define Brim’s visual approach and style for all forms of communication with cardmember’s and potential clients. She maintains Brim’s social channels and works closely with marketing & partnerships to create and design print & digital ads, videos, animations, emails and campaigns to drive audience engagement and acquisition.
Prior to joining Brim, Nicole worked in a digital software company creating marketing material that helped onboard new & existing users to the platform. From email campaigns, webinar training, video tutorials, and designing responsive banners for companies like Air Canada and Cisco.
Nicole holds an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from Seneca College and a Certificate in Digital Marketing at BrainStation.
As part of the Finance team, Janet is responsible for settlement and reconciliation functions for the Brim credit card portfolio. Janet interfaces with Brim's external vendors on a daily basis to ensure timely reconciliation and reporting requirements.
Janet has over 20 years of experience in financial & business reporting analysis within retail, commercial real estate and the IT industry, and has held roles at Canadian Tire and Brookfield.
She holds a Co-op Diploma in Accounting and Financial Management from Centennial College.
As part of the Operations team, Sarah is responsible for daily administrative tasks, business tracking, call-centre consulting, and procedure and policy implementation. She initially began working at Brim as a Partnerships Coordinator, before transitioning to her current role assisting the Operations team.
Sarah recently graduated from Acadia University where she earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees - a BA of Environmental Sustainability during her first four years & a BA of Sociology with honours in her fifth and final year. During her time at Acadia, she also conducted a mixed-methods thesis investigating gender inequality within the varsity athletics program at Acadia University.
